At the risk of sounding like a total cliche: the Mind Tribes teacher training was one of the best decisions I made in my life. I went in without complete knowledge of why I wanted to do this yoga training, but the funny bone of intuition spoke up, and it served me so well. The teachers set high expectations of the students and themselves, and their commitment to show up honestly, vivaciously, and passionately drives the training. They aim to create, what they call, 'a container' for the group, where the students are free to play, mess up, introspect, and seek with the safety net of supporters. This container is a treasure chest. My experience through this training has not only fine-tuned my physical asana practice, but my yoga experience. An element of magic and wonder has returned to my practice. The community created through the structure of this program gave me a sense of unity and connection (and isn't that what yoga is about). The content of program mentally, emotionally, and spiritually stimulated me and provided me with tools that I can apply beyond the mat.
Teacher training has been an incredible journey. Dan and Cristina saw something in me that I couldn't see in myself. I started training thinking I would do it just to deepen my personal practice. I couldn't imagine anyone coming to a class I taught. Last week I taught my first yoga class and 13 people showed up!
I got so much more than a deeper practice and the ability to teach a class. I healed old wounds and found myself in this training. I think the most valuable thing I got out of the training was the ability to love myself 100%.
When I started the Mind Tribes 200 hour yoga teacher training I knew to expect to learn how to teach a yoga class. What I did not expect was everything else I would get along the way. I got a new vision and direction for my career, I got a deeper, more intimate and fulfilling relationship with my girlfriend, and I learned how to have fun again. In the space of the training, I discovered sharing myself courageously and authentically can be more powerful for people than all the knowledge of yoga I could possibly gain.
On a more yoga note, I have a deeper understanding of the body which has given me the language and tools to speak a powerful yoga class and to deepen my own practice. Dan and Cristina Houston were professional, knowledgeable, and fun throughout the program, and their love for each other and the work shone through in all we did. Take this training, and give yourself a chance to get your own unexpected benefits in addition to the knowledge to teach dynamic, powerful yoga class.
When I decided to sign up for the Mind Tribes teacher training I was hoping to develop my personal yoga practice and be able to teach a powerful yoga class by the end of training. About halfway through the program, I can already say that this has occurred, but Dan and Cristina have fostered an environment that has allowed for so much more than that. By learning to embody my practice I have experienced personal development in all aspects of my life, beyond anything I could have hoped for going into this process. Beyond that I have been so incredibly empowered by the people I am surrounded by in this training; we have had the opportunity to grow individually and as a group and I will forever be grateful for the experience. Choosing this training and this tribe has been one of the best decisions I have made for myself in a long time.
